FAVE EVENT of AUGUST 2009

Frequency Festival, Aug 20 - 22, STP

Who ever thought that there is the time when St. Pölten really deserved the name STP Rock City!!

The three days of this years Frequency Festival just rocked! Brilliant bands (Radiohead, Bloc Party, This City, Editors, The Subways, Rise Against, Dune, Thursday to name just a few), really friendly people everywhere (did not expect that at all) and even friendly securities, and lots lots of FUN (including dancing in the rain!!!)

All in all a brilliant festival, that's how all festivals should be like!

FAVE EVENT of JULY 2009
Morrissey, July 11, Gasometer, Vienna

Lots of amazing bands visted Austria in July, but the old man from Manchester Mr. Morrissey has to be our Face Event of the Months. Who else can claim so many wonderful songs and records since the 80ies?
He doesn't seem to be tired of being on stage and writing new songs.
You just have to love the Moz.

FAVE EVENT of May 2009:
Alesana @ Flex, May 31st

A gig full of Emo kids can be Fave Event of the month??? We never thought that, but after seeing Alesana live, you forget about those emo kids that all look the same.

Alesana screamed, sang, stagedived, sweated - just for entertaining us, making us dance, sweat and yell.

Brilliant performance, good musicians, crazy guys on stage, amazing voices, good songs - that's what a gig should be like, right???

FAVE EVENT of April 2009:
Give it a Name Festival @ Arena, April 14th

What is better than take lots of brilliant band, putting them together on a tour and let them rock the Arena.
Taking Back Sunday, Underoath, Thursday, Escape the Fate, Emery, Innerpartysystem, The Gaia Corporation; plus From Dawn to Fall and some other Austrian acts rocked the Arena.

Best band of the night however were Austria's own From Dawn to Fall, they played one of their best shows ever and made all the US bands look like extras.

The summary of the evening:
1. Taking Back Sunday are boring 2. Thursday have a brilliant frontman 3. I want to cut off the hair of the singer of Underoath 4. Gaia Corporation are so much better with Vincenzo than without 5. Emery were disappointing 6. I am still in love with From Dawn to Fall

But just spending a long evening at the Arena, listenting to lots of bands, meeting friends, that what we call a Fave Event.

FAVE EVENT of March 2009:
P!NK @ Stadthalle, March 25th

You may say P!nk is a strange choice for our favourite event of the month considering she is that huge mainstream act - but she is all what a RockMISS is about - she does whatever SHE wants, she is just more than cool, she is an amazing performer, and all those little girl growing up should pick her as a role model.

The Funhouse tour show gave us exactly what we expected, lots of stage decoration, great dancers, great musicians, a brilliant selection of songs, and her - P!nk dancing, singing, showing us she is more than a performer, she is an acrobat swinging on the ceiling of the Stadthalle.

All in all, a brilliant night, make sure to secure your tickets for the December show as this one was sold out months before.

FAVE EVENT of February 2009:
Maximo Park @ Arena, Feb 25th

There are so many wonderful memories in connection with this band, seeing them over and over again for the last 4 years just made them better and better.
The Viennese show was special because they played us lot of songs from their upcoming record - and from what we got to hear, it will be huge!

So thanks to Paul, Lukas, Duncan, Archis and Tom for still making music that is fun and makes us dance.

FAVE EVENT of January 2009:

Mark Lanegan & Greg Dulli @ WUK, Jan 25th

It is obvious that you get an amazing evening if you take to music legends (and by now you can actually really call them that), add a third man on guitar and it is even better. And then enjoy the combination of those three unbelievable voices, two guitars and keyboards. This music and for me especially Mark Lanegan's voice makes you forget about everything that is going on around you and just let's you focus and the beauty of music and voices.
